I’d just finished making the hors d’oeuvres for my guests, tasting as I went along, as any good cook would do, when I realized it was time for my dinner. Cook? Order in? Go out? Nothing suited me.
I needed comfort food. A 24 oz. glass container of Victoria Chef Penne Alla Vodka was on my shelf. I opened it and heated it in the microwave.
The result was fabulous! The Penne Alla Vodka combines penne pasta in a delicious rich, creamy vodka sauce with cheese, fresh onions, basil and garlic. I read the container: the Victoria Chef Collection’s slow-kettle cooked sauce uses only the best ingredients, plus — and this is a great tip — the penne pasta is cooked using egg whites, so they taste al dente when they come out of the microwave.
After dinner, I googled the Victoria Chef Collection (victoriafinefoods.com) and found that the sauces come in various sizes: 14 oz, 24, 32 and 40, and range from about under $6 to a little over $12. Can’t beat the fact that with Victoria’s Chef Collection there’s an easy lunch or dinner in the cupboard, and no preparation, no cleanup and no waiting for delivery.
